The 2012 line of MacBooks might feature retina displays. Since Apple has already incorporated the display into the iPhone and are going to include it in the new iPad 3, having retina displays on the new MacBooks would be more than credible. Many rumors say that only the high-end MacBook Pros (17 inch quad-core Intel Core i7, etc.) will include the new display, while the lesser models will still include the same screen panel. Rumors also indicate that the price of the new MacBooks with the retina displays will be up to $300 more than the price that they are at now.
Though the MacBook Air line may not feature retina displays, it is rumored that at least the MacBook Pro line will. The MacBook Air is aimed at portability and basic function, while the MacBook Pro has improved specs and as the name implies, is more of a “pro version”.
The rumors also indicate that the computers with the lesser screen quality will be available along side the laptops with the retina displays. This ensures that the starting price of the laptops remains the same, so Apple can cater to a host of people, ones who are on a budget and don’t care for the improved screen, and the ones that are willing to spend the extra for a better screen quality.
All we know is that the next line of MacBooks will be quite a step up from the computers on sale today, especially if they are going to have upgraded displays.
